Tails of Success
COLTON
Colton is doing GREAT! We had an hour and half ride home and he just sat in
the back and didn't say a word. We were surprised he was so good. When
we got him home he was perfect with our daughter. The only funny thing he
did was gas up the house. I think he was just a little nervous that first
night. He did sleep really well which I was very happy about. He was in our
room and I didn't think I heard him move the whole night. The one thing our
daughter has to learn is to watch out the for his tail, which she learned
the first day after getting hit several times. After the first day she
learned that when Colton walks by with his waging tail she has to close her
eyes and cover her face from the "wipe". My daughter also has learned to
give Colton treats. Its her favor thing to do! The following morning I took
him to a local Petsmart to get him a good bath and he was perfect for them.
They just loved him and he seemed to really like getting all cleaned up.
I've been buying him all these toys and treats, but I think he just is happy
with the love we give him and he also just loves going on long walks. I took
him to the vet yesterday and got him all updated on all his shots and got him
a blood test to check for heartworms. Do you guys check for that when you
take him in? We didn't see it on his records. The vet was also very impressed
by how good he does. The only question I have is did you ever hear him bark?
Since we got him he hasn't barked once. Not a once. We have dogs on both sides
of us and when he might the dogs he didn't say a word. I was just curious.
Colton has been a great blessing to our family! I honestly couldn't have
thought up a better dog for us and I'm very thankful you showed him to us
that day. We are so very happy with him and I'm so glad we drove all that
way to find him. I'm also including some pictures of him. Hope you like them?
My wife also wanted me to ask if you would happen to know the address of
the person that gave us that dog blanket? She wants to send them a thank you.
I hope all is going well at the shelter and lots of animals are finding new homes.
Thanks again!
Nate, Sarah, Madison and Colton
JONATHON & FERDINAND
Just want to let you know that Jonathan and Ferdinand are doing great in their
new home! Not only do they seem happy, but the addition has made us so
happy too. Here are some pics of the boys in action at their new home.
Sincerely,
Jackson and Chelsie
BELLE
One week ago today, I came into the DCHS and adopted "Belle." I've sent some
picture as an attachment. Please let me know if you can't open the pic files.
I will send them in another format.
Nicole helped me last weekend pick out a kitty...Nicole was great. I was
immediately drawn to Belle, and I know this was a good choice for me My two
college-age kids, my husband and myself picked out a new name for her....Annabelle!
I think the name will suit her just fine.
As soon as we brought Annabelle home, she was so loving toward us and never really
scared like I thought she'd be. My kids and I soon discovered that Annabelle would
have these "love attacks" every night when we all wanted to go to bed....my daughter
described it as Annabelle saying, "I love you, I love you, I love you" constantly as
she is literally walking all over your face!!! She really is a funny cat and still
has lots of kitten qualities. All of my previous cats were adult cats so Annabelle's
playfulness is refreshing.
Lastly, I just wanted to let you know that we took Annabelle to the Vet in Colfax.
Bruce Buckley did the exam and said kitty was in good health. He also looked at her
canine tooth that is broken. He was able to pull off the split piece of tooth, but
also told us that the tooth was not infected so he did not want to extract the tooth
at this time...he wants us to just watch the tooth and gums. We do have an appt. on
Feb 5th for spaying, a second Feline Leukemia vaccination, and declawing of front paws.
Annabelle's ears were also cleaned and we are using ear mite medicine for the next few
months. So, kitty is in good shape for now and I will send you all the paper work you
requested after her spaying in February. Take care and tell Nicole thanks again for
helping me last Saturday.

SUE
Hello DCHS Staff-
You knew her as "Sue" and now her name is Angel. She is a sweet little dog and a
wonderful addition to our family. She's quite entertaining with her high energy and
inquisitiveness. She gets along great with her big brother Snickers, though they do
compete for toys and attention most of the time. They love to play together indoors
and outside in the snow. She very smart and she's already learned a few tricks with
treats as an incentive, of course. She's loves to snuggle with her daddy in the recliner
in the evenings. She also enjoys snoozing on the couch with her mom and watching our
kitty, Pearl with great enthusiasm. She had a urinary tract infection which slowed
the house training process a bit, but now our vet tells us she's healthy as can be,
as she has gained weight and filled out nicely. She's a little honey and we are thankful
that your organization rescued her and made it possible for us to adopt her. Keep up
the great work!

BUCK
Hi,
Here are some pictures of Abner (otherwise known as Buck). We absolutely LOVE him!
He is such a good boy and so very sweet and gentle! He is gaining weight, his coat is
looking handsome, and his teeth problems are getting better each day (he loves his chew
toys!). Thanks for taking such great care of him until we took him to his forever home:).
Enjoy This Day,
The Sorensons:)
SUKI
Thank you Thank you!!!
Suki is such a wonderful dog, we just absolutely love her to pieces!!! She could not be
a better addition to our family. She is cuddly and sweet and very smart and independent.
She still takes to hiding things in our hat & mitten bin! She loves other animals and even
welcomes those who visit us as well. She is very healthy and happy. We are so grateful to
you for her! Thanks again!

DUCKY
To The Caring People at Dunn County Humane Society:
We just wanted to let you know that Ducky has made a great addition to our household.
Already she has brought us endless hours of entertainment. She entertains herself by
chasing glitter balls and looking out the window at the birds and squirrels. She is
very affectionate and enjoys lots of attention. You will be happy to know that she
made herself to home quite quickly and already has all of her favorite spots mapped
out (good and bad!). The attached pictures are of Ducky looking out the window at the
birds, and also one of her stretched out waiting to be petted. Never mind the date of
the photos, we could never figure out how to change the date on the camera.
We are very happy with our selection. Ducky is the best cat that we possibly could of
chose. Thank you for taking such good care of her until she found us!
Sincerely,
Gary and Jeanie Bauer
KARMA
My wife stopped by after my visit yesterday and adopted Karma. So far, so good, and there
haven't been any dog/cat confrontations so far. She's just settled in and seems very calm
and comfortable here. I've attached a picture of her not long after her arrival, settled
down the sheepskin we'd put down for the cats. We'll keep you informed. She seems like a
very nice dog.
Thanks,
Steve and Karen Anderson
POLAR
Hi from Polar...now Bear!
Here is Polar (answers better to Bear) relaxing after lunch. He is a very sweet dog and we
are all happy with each other. We do wonder who named him Polar because he does not seem to
recognize that name.
